Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday expressed deep shock at the death of eminent folksinger, lyricist and flautist Bari Siddiqui.
In a condolence message, the Prime Minister recalled the outstanding contributions of Bari Siddiqui towards enriching the country’s folk songs.
“The people of the country have lost a popular folksinger at his death … as long as the folk songs will exist in the country, he will remain ever alive,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her heartfelt sympathy to his bereaved family members.
The 63-year-old folksinger breathed his last around 2:30am today at city’s Square Hospital, reports UNB.
