Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad and chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s (CPA) executive committee Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has left Dhaka for the USA to participate in a parliamentary workshop and meetings with different UN agencies there.
Dr Shirin, who left Dhaka on Sunday, is leading a two-member Bangladesh delegation during her visit, said a Parliament Secretariat handout on Monday.
The two-day workshop will begin on Tuesday in Washington DC, the capital city of the USA, reports UNB.
The Parliamentary Network is arranging the workshop to provide MPs with the opportunity to engage with senior IMF and World Bank experts and to discuss different development issues, including institutional strengthening, anti-corruption and fiscal transparency efforts, investment in human capital, private sector development and the financing for development.
Another member of the Bangladesh delegation is Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts Dr Mahiddun Khan Alamgir.
