The Bangladesh cricket team will face South Africa Invitation XI in the three-day tour match which starting at Willowmoore Park, Benoni on Thursday.
The match will begin at 2:pm (Bangladesh time), UNB reports.
With this tour match, the Tigers will start their tour campaign ahead of the series, involving two Tests, three ODIs and two T20Is, against Proteas.
All the members of the Tigers have already reached South Africa in time, but pace bowler Rubel Hossain could not travel to Johannesburg on Saturday as he was denied a boarding pass by the airlines for not having clearance from South African immigration.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is confident Rubel will be available for the Test series, which starts from September 28.
Rubel had a valid visa like his team-mates, the SA immigration authorities have a new provision in which, despite anyone having a visa, they issue “Okay to board” assurances to the airlines, specifying who can fly.
“Rubel’s name was missing from that list,” said Akram Khan, chairman of the BCB cricket operations committee.
“He is an important player, so we cannot deprive him because of miscommunication,” Khan said after the incident.
The Tigers will play the first Test (September 28- October 2) at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, while the 2nd Test (October 6-10) at Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.
After the Test series, Bangladesh will play ODIs on October 15, 18 and 22 respectively while T20Is on October 26 and 29 against the hosts.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 15-man Test squad for their mission, while Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced a 12-strong Invitation XI for the tour match.
However, the Tigers squads for ODIs and T20Is are yet to be announced.
In their previous 10 Test meetings, Bangladesh drew in two games at home against the Proteas in July 15 and lost in eight occasions.
Bangladesh visited last in South Africa for two Tests and ODIs in November 2008.
