Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said the government has taken all the necessary steps so that people do not suffer during any natural disaster.
“The Awami League government is your government. As long as Awami League is there in power, people won’t face any unnecessary problem,” she said addressing the flood-hit people at a public rally at Panga Rani Kakki Priya School and College ground.
The rally was held prior to the distribution of relief materials among flood victims by the Prime Minister, reports UNB.
Sheikh Hasina said Awami League will always stand by people during any disaster, no matter whether it remains in power or not.
“We’ve dedicated our lives to the welfare of Bangladesh’s people to build a happy and prosperous country for which Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had liberated the country.”
She said the government has all the preparations to face any disastrous situation.
Hasina expressed her condolence for the losses of lives in the flood, saying the death toll will come down in the future when people learn to adapt to the situation.
She urged the well-off section of society to stand by the flood-affected poor people.
The Prime Minister also asked the non-government lending organisations not to impose excessive interest on credit.
Food Minister Qamrul Islam, Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Awami League Organising Secretary BM Mozammel, MP, Relief Affairs Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi and Chairman of Kurigram district council Jafar Ali, among others, addressed the rally.
