Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged people to remain alert against those who opposed the country’s independence, saying their evil souls are still in Bangladesh and want to strike whenever they get a chance.
“Those who opposed the independence and those who didn’t want the War of Liberation had been engaged in genocide, rape, looting and arson attacks. Their evil souls are still in Bangladesh and want to strike whenever they get a chance.
The Bangalee nation will have to remain alert against them,” she said.
The Awami League chief was delivering her introductory remarks at a joint meeting of the AL Presidium and Secretaries of the Central Committee at her official residence Ganobhaban in the city on Thursday.
Sheikh Hasina said she never thought of changing her own fate and amassing wealth while being in power; rather she always wants to ensure people’s overall welfare, reports UNB.
The Prime Minister said the common people alongside farmers and workers have now regained relief and peace, and their dreams of having a better life is being materialised as Awami League is steering the country forward.
But, she apprehended that the country will again plunge into an abyss of terrorism, militancy, looting, nepotism, corruption, commission trade, money-laundering, and upsurge of ‘Hawa’ and ‘Khowab Bhaban’ if others like BNP-Jamaat clique grabs power as they did in 2001.
Directing the AL leadership to further strengthen the party, Hasina asked them to take a firm vow to materialise the dreams and expectations of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
