Customs officials arrested a passenger along with nine gold bars weighing nine kilograms at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Wednesday night.
The arrestee was identified as Sirajul Islam, 41. He landed at Shahjalal Airport from Malaysia via Bangkok by a PG flight of Bangkok Airways, reports UNB.
On secret information, officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) challenged Sirajul while he was crossing green channel, said customs sources.
After searching his body, the officials recovered nine gold bars weighing nine kilograms and a piece of gold weighing 278 gram worth Tk 4.60 crore.
